When we asked A.C.E. who his musical inspirations were he told us “Eminem, Meek Mills and Big Sean.” Non-music related A.C.E. told us Tyler Perry inspires him. “Tyler Perry inspires me only because he started from the bottom and made it too the top by the grace of God.” When asked who inspires him to continue his music dream as an artist and a producer A.C.E. said “My grandmother inspired me. Music was her heart, she passed away, So I’m going to make it my all to reach success.” A.C.E. also shared with us that his father also inspires him to continue his passion for music because “My father as well as producer Jdilla inspired me because growing up all I knew was the studio, watching them made me want to do it.”

ACE #2

A.C.E.’s favorite thing about music is  “Challenging myself to get a hit song. Honestly, I’m a lyrical rapper. I rap for the ladies on fun time, But to be honest I’m perfect at freestyling, Lyrics on a Meek Mill level but more different.” A.C.E. describes his music as  different. “I’m lyrical with a funny type of flow. It get’s the fans going a sorta kinda way. My music is different because I’m bringing a young attitude as well as a different approach to the music world.”

5-years from now A.C.E. told us “I Would Like To Be Successful Delivering Better Content Than What’s On The Radio, As Well As World Wide.” He describes his song Ace Can Make Her Dance“Ace Can Make Her Dance Is About A Young Artist Attracting Females Too Dance, Some Of The Content In The Song Was a little Humor,I Created This Song For Female Fan Bases.” He describes his song How to Ball and how he came up with this song – “Actually I was Sitting In The Studio And Heard The Beat It Had A 90′s Groove To It So I Had To Give My All On It.Basically Im Speaking Upon A Guy Who Can Treat A Girl Better Than What Her Ex Treated Her.”

If you can find A.C.E. not busy he’s either listening to Eminem,RoyceDa5’9,BigSean,BlackMilk,FlexxHard or working on his own music career. YDS Upcoming Artists: Foreign (A.K.A Brandon Nicholas)

There’s always local rappers, But the fact of the matter is the REAL reason we started this segment on our website is because we feel that local, talented DETROIT artists aren’t getting the respect and showcase they deserve! It’s all about the artists who are famous, signed and have money…Well Detroit and Michigan have very talented artists from all different music genres. In this weekend’s edition of YDS Upcoming Artists we are featuring a very talented teenager from our own backyard. If you haven’t heard Foreign rap yet, you are definitely missing out in my personal opinion. Foreign isn’t your typical, average rapper…He writes about things that mean something to him and he is somebody I know on a personal level and one of my good friends. I wouldn’t take the time to highlight him on this blog if I believed he wasn’t good, he’s got potential and I want everybody to know and have heard of him before he becomes famous and making it big!  When I first heard him rap…I knew he was TALENTED and GIFTED.

Follow Brandon Nicholas also known as “Foreign” on Twitter @GreetTheConnect.

Brandon Nicholas also known as Foregin is not somebody who just says they can rap, or somebody who is a wannabe rapper…Brandon is a very talented 18-year-old from Detroit, Michigan. Brandon has been interested in music ever since 8th grade in middle school when he was only 12-years-old ( 6 years ago). Brandon has been writing his own music ever since 2009 and he still is writing his own songs now! Brandon can be described as a musical, wise, respectful, caring and different type of person, a person that you don’t run in to much often! Brandon plans on attending Ohio State University or Eastern Michigan University and studying

When asked about Brandon’s musical idol, Brandon told us that Tupac was his musical idol. Brandon said Tupac is his musical idol because “Tupac is both of the voices, Tupac spoke on what people were scared to speak of and he didn’t care what people thought about him. Also, He wasn’t just a rapper, he was a poet and not many people know that. Another reason is because he had a lot of money from his highly successful career but he still chose to keep things simple and he didn’t care about money like most artists now a days care about. Tupac wasn’t all about money and I respect that a lot about him.” When asked about who influences him to pursue his dreams, Brandon said “My mom would have to be the  BIGGEST person that has influenced me to pursue my dreams because my mom raised me and without my mom I wouldn’t know what I’d do. I have learned a lot of things that I know today from my mom and I watched her make the most out of what we had and she taught me how to make something out of nothing.”

We asked Brandon Nicholas what his favorite thing about music was and he said “My favorite thing about music is hearing my voice and being able to listen to the stories that people tell and connect and picture how I can relate to other artists songs and how they can connect to my real life experiences. Brandon also shared with us that he describes writing lyrics and recording songs as a passion for him because “It’s a way for me to express my feelings and relieve stress.”

Brandon told us that his favorite Detroit artists would have to be “Eminem, Blade Icewood and Big Herk.”  In his free time Brandon enjoys hanging out with his family and friends and cooking. If Brandon doesn’t go into the music industry as a career in life, he plans on continuing writing songs and may take culinary classes to become a chef! He said that if he could collaborate with any artist he would choose J-Cole because “I like rappers that speak about hard times that I can relate to, we both know the the struggle is. Like for example, How you can go from having nothing or very little and then turning that into something. J-Cole also knows how it feels to be down on your last and ANY rapper who puts all of that onto a track for everybody to hear…That’s brave and he expresses what he’s been tru. Most people think haha it’s funny to be broke but overall you can go from broke to being something and eventually if your dedicated you make it at the end and everything works out for you.”

Stay tuned for Brandon “Foreign” Nicholas’ newest mix-tape “The Introduction” scheduled to be released late January.

Brandon describes his songs and lyrics to others as “Inspirational, Motivating, Relate-able and up-lifting.”
When asked about what we can expect from Brandon in the future he shared with us that his newest mix-tape ”The Introduction” will be dropped late January. The Young Detroit Show will have a follow up interview with Brandon to talk about his mix-tape when it gets closer to the release date. In five years from now Brandon would like to see himself being a world changer and bringing hip hop back…He want’s to be the person that is different and has potential. Brandon also explained to us how he’d prefer to be his own person and be an independent artist. Brandon also said he’d like to give a shout-out and huge thanks to Jesus, his mom, his dad and YDS Host Tyler Beltz for supporting him and helping him  continue to live his dreams. Brandon also is not only a rapper but he also knows how to produce, master and records tracks as well.

We like to thank Brandon for allowing us to interview him for our YDS Upcoming Artists segment and we will continue to provide you follow up interviews and let all of you know what’s going on with Brandon “Foreign” Nicholas. We’d like you guys to also follow Brandon on Twitter @GreetTheConnect to stay connected with him! We’ll have a follow up interview to talk with Brandon about his newest upcoming UNRELEASED mix-tape titled “The Introduction” as well as post some videos of him rapping COMING SOON ON YDS!

Damon told us “But as far as influencing me to pursue my dreams; I’ll have to go with everybody in the business… just seeing them have there dream comes true keeps me hungry.”

We asked Damon Compton what his favorite thing about music is and he says “My favorite thing about music is it allows you to have the ability to tell a story in your own way; and it also allows you to have your own sense of creativity.”

Infinity Hour is a Rock group from Highland, Michigan! The band includes – Jena Asciutto (Lead Vocals), Katelyn Perrett (Rhythm Guitar/Vocals), Jared Bentley (Lead Guitar), Brad Rude (Bass Guitar), and Dylan Walsh (Drums). I had the opportunity to see Infinity Hour perform LIVE at a local cafe in Downtown Ferndale awhile back and even though it was my first and only time seeing them perform, I can tell you that this group is made up of 5 very talented individuals.

I interviewed the band as a whole for the webshow and each and every member was very friendly and nice! Now I am asking you Young Detroit Show viewers to be generous as you can whether it’s $1 or $40…It can make a difference in these five individuals lives.

Why HELP?:

Infinity Hour is heading to Groovebox Studios on Saturday, July 7th 2012 to record and film a live GBS Detroit EP and video. That means NO over-dubs, NO re-do’s and NO auto-tuned vocals! Plus, the cameras will be rolling the whole time, with the videos being featured on GBS Detroit’s site. This is your chance to experience Infinity Hour the way he were meant to be heard, up-close and personal in Detroit.

Infinity Hour is doing a Kickstarter campaign to raise the $600 needed to make this happen. But they’re  not  just asking for cold hard cash, when you pledge money to this project you’ll get all kinds of great rewards, including the opportunity to be in the studio audience during the session!! For more information and to see Infinity Hour’s video on why you should donate please visit http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gbsdetroit/gbs-detroit-presents-infinity-hour.

YDS Upcoming Artist: Cody Hughes

Posted By: Tyler B. (YDS Host)

Cody Hughes is a 18-year-old guy from Ferndale, Michigan who, like many – has a passion for music!

Cody has been playing music ever since his Sophomore year in high school.  When asked about his original GOAL Cody said “My goal wasn’t to end up in the music industry at first I was just playing cause I loved the sound of the guitar and when I started to play for people everyone started saying I should go into it.” His number one idol is Joe Bonamassa – “ He’s everything I would hope to become one day.”

Joe Bonamassa oe Bonamassa is an American blues rock guitarist and singer. He began his career playing guitar in the band Bloodline! Cody says “My favorite thing about music is at the end of the day I can take all my emotions and just put them into a song you can call it my way of venting.”

Cody is currently working on his new song called “Excuse Me” and we are being told it should  be finished very SOON!

When asked about whether or not he will be shooting music videos for his songs he said “I actually have a lot of ideas for my music videos cause every song I make there’s kind of a little story going on in my head while I’m making it.”

Cody also  said “When I get older I wanna do something in music. What it is doesn’t really matter to me as long as it’s something with music.”

Cody’s advice for everybody out there who is interested in becoming a singer / artist or anybody who is interested in writing songs “You’ve heard it a thousand times but practice really is key if you wanna be great, I play non-stop and I know I still got a ways to go.”

Hughes told us he’d like to meet David Gilmore, “He’s the best guitarist of all time and I know he could give me so many tips and great advice.”

Tell Us A Little Bit About Your Songs:

’If I were The Man’ – Is actually a remix of Beyonce’s song “If I Was a Boy”. I had that song stuck in my head for days so I decided to just make my own version of it.

‘Cut N’ Run’ – Was actually a song I wrote about a former ex of mine. If you look at the title you can basically pan out what exactly happened in that relationship.

In Cody’s free time you can find him being very social and hanging out at parties with his friends, listening to ‘Payphone’ by Maroon 5, ‘Young Wild and Free’ by Wiz Khalifa,’Count On Me’ by Bei Maejor,’Somebody That I Use To Know’ by Gotye, or  ’And Swing Life Away’ by Rise Against.

Stay tuned to the Young Detroit Show for more information on Cody Hughes, including live performances and an exclusive interview with Cody!
